Dave Breithaupt, Internist and Addictive
Disorder specialist, founded and directed a drug treatment center at
O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, California. For eighteen years, he
facilitated a weekly support group for recovering health
professionals.
Not addicted himself, he advocated for an improved
State Diversion Program for addicted and mentally-ill physicians in California.
Now retired, instead of advocacy within organizations, Dave Breithaupt continues this effort by writing reality fiction. His first novel in the “Dr. Richard Drinkwater Series” is ‘R.I.C.E.’ released in April, 2009. A second book, ‘Thee Needs Killing, Marly’ will follow in 2010.
